5th CISM Winter Military World Games

Switzerland will host the 5th CISM Winter World Military Games from 23 to 30 March 2025 under the motto ‘Military Champions for Peace’. While Lucerne will be at the centre of the Games as the host city, the competitions will be spread across renowned locations such as Engelberg, Andermatt, Goms, Emmen and Wädenswil. The sporty pistes and a high degree of snow safety make the Engelberg-Titlis region the ideal venue for the alpine competitions at the Winter World Military Games.

Over 1,300 athletes from almost 50 nations are expected to take part, including Swiss athletes who benefit from the top-class sports support provided by the Swiss Armed Forces. However, the Games offer far more than just top sporting performances - they promote intercultural exchange and friendship between nations, in keeping with the CISM motto: ‘Friendship through Sport’.

Both the opening and closing ceremonies as well as all competitions are open to the public and free of charge, with the aim of breaking down barriers and bringing people closer to the world of military sport. Please note, however, that a regular mountain railway ticket is required to use the mountain railways in Engelberg, which is not covered as part of the free access to the competitions.
