Located right by the lake, the music pavilion is on Kurplatz between Schweizerhofquai and Nationalquai. Getting there involves a leisurely stroll along Lucerne's lakeside promenade. Weather permitting, performances take place here on Tuesday and Friday evenings at and additionally at on Sunday mornings. The music ranges from folk to big band and jazz, so there's something for everyone to jiggle their hips to. Bask in the stunning lake views to the relaxing sound of live music. The Pavilion Concerts take place annually from May to the end of September.
Tradition since 1908
The pavilion was built in a geometric Jugendstil style in 1908 to plans by the German architect Bruno Schmitz: the idea was to have a 60-strong spa orchestra perform there twice a day. So pavilion concerts have been a tradition on Kurplatz for over 100 years.
LED lighting located within the mosaic-decorated stage shell provides an atmospheric ambience in the evening.
A leisurely stroll along the lakeside promenade
After Kurplatz, you can stroll past the Grand Hotel National and Casino Luzern to the Seebad Luzern, then past the Hotel Palace via Carl-Spitteler-Quai and Luzernquai to the Swiss Museum of Transport. Keep following the promenade alongside the lake to the Lido, then take Churchill-Quai to Seeburgstrasse. You can catch the bus for the return leg, or the boat from the nearby «Verkehrshaus-Lido» landing stage.
