The western branch of the Herzschlaufe Seetal dives into little-known realms, although you are in the middle of Switzerland. You start in the wonderful town of Lenzburg with its imposing castle and soon find yourself in long forest passages that make you lose your bearings. An imposing castle surprises and welcomes you in the Suhrental. Once again the route dives and comes out in an even less known strip of Switzerland, also garnished with a castle; the Ruedertal. Now the route follows splendid mountain ranges that show hardly any settlement. Only the Lucerne spot of Beromünster offers diverse liveliness, be it with the imposing canons' abbey or the small old town and its culinary temptations. A final passage leads back toward Lucerne, offering again and again magnificent views of Mount Pilatus and the Central Swiss Alps.
