Der gut 5-stündige Rundweg führt meist direkt am fast unverbauten Seeufer entlang. Zwischen den Seeortschaften fahren Kursschiffe, sodass die Route beliebig verkürzt werden kann.

This relaxing route along the magnificent, largely undeveloped shores of Lake Hallwil features many fascinating highlights such as Hallwyl Castle and a stilt house, as well as opportunities for a refreshing swim.

The hike begins in Mosen, at the south end of Lake Hallwil. Much of the lakeshore has remained undeveloped and thus offers an ideal recreation area for hikers and walkers with the intact flora and fauna of the Seetal region. The round walk takes about five hours, with most of the path directly on the lakeshore. Various landing stations offer the possibility of shortening the hike.

The path circles back after roughly halfway – marked as «Seeuferweg» (lakeshore path) – at the north end of the lake, leading past Hallwyl Castle in Seengen. It is surrounded by the Aabach River, and a visit is a must when the drawbridge is down. This is the most charming moated castle in all of Switzerland, offering a lovely courtyard, café and tour through the castle.

Heading south on the trail, there is a reconstruction of a lake dwelling on stilts in Meisterschwanden. From there it's not far to Brestenberg Castle: although it cannot be visited, it's certainly worth a detour. As you return along the lakeshore to the starting point in Mosen, there are numerous swimming areas and barbecue spots – a perfect way to round off the hike around Lake Hallwil.
