Easy hike from Rotenthurm, surrounded by beautiful moorland, up to the Mostelberg with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.

You start in the centre of Rothenthurm at the St. Antonius parish church in Rothenthurm and follow the signposted SwitzerlandMobility route number 836, crossing the Steiner Aa after Biberegg. From there, the ascent begins across meadows and through the forest. There are great panoramic views along the way. You can see the village of Rothenthurm and the Aegeri valley. You can also see the surrounding peaks such as the Rigi massif and the Schwyz, Uri and Bernese Alps. You then enter the Mäderenwald forest. Once you reach the Bächli, you have reached the highest point of the route and head back downhill. The destination is the Mostelberg. There you can enjoy a cosy break at the Mostelberg mountain inn and then take the Sattel-Hochstuckli revolving gondola down to the village of Sattel.
