From Menzberg, you take a pleasant high-level path along the ridge with its gentle ascents and descents. The Chrotthütte, an SAC refuge that's staffed on Sundays, is soon reached. The next section of the walk leads steeply up through the forest. At Stächelegg, you're surprised by wonderful panoramic views of the Bernese Alps. After the next bend a rocky ledge appears: the Hengst (alt. 1371 m). The far-reaching views into the legendary Änziloch hole, source of the Klein Fontanne, is truly impressive. A barbecue spot with benches is provided. You soon come to the Napf (alt. 1406 m) with its striking triangulation point. In clear weather it offers superb panoramic views over Switzerland, the Black Forest and the Vosges. The path leads through the forest and then along the foothills to Hübeli, where there's a bus stop.
