It runs along the sunny side of the valley. With monasteries, forests, torrents, pastures and vantage points, the trail offers plenty of variety. We start in Wil, the oldest part of the village Muotathal. From the old monastery we go to the monastery St. Josef, where still today some Franciscan nuns live and work. In 1799 the Russian general Suworow moved into this monastery when he fought against the French in Schwyz. But this hike is not a fight, but a pleasure. The road leads to the Guggeli, where a break is worthwhile. The self-service broom-stand in the Gaden and its sunny seats invite you to linger with a view of the impressive Wasserberg. A small ascent over woods and torrents to the highest point of the hike, the Änzenenbänkli, follows. Your feet stay still and the view continues over the wide, flat valley floor: from Ried via Muotathal and in the direction of Bisisthal. The gentle descent leads through open pastureland back to the monastery and finally to the starting point.
