Take advantage of the first part of the easier-going fourth stage of Route 1291 to catch your breath after the tough ups and downs of the previous stages. But this stage also has its challenges: from Meiringen, the route takes you over the Brünig pass to picturesque Lungern and on to Sörenberg via the Mörlialp and the Glaubenbielen pass straight into the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch. Enjoy the views of the breathtaking, expansive landscape of the Lake Lucerne region.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
Attention Cheese-Lovers: Alpine Sbrinz AOP is produced on the Fluonalp during the alpine season. The detour is definitely worthwhile for a visit to the cheese production facility, for a snack or even to spend the night on the alp.
Every Sunday from July to Sept. for sunrise on the Brienzer Rothorn.
