Demanding alternative along old road between the cantons of Nidwalden and Uri. Climbs and descends via challenging mountain paths with attractive viewpoints. In between, tranquil valley walk in secluded Isenthal.

The path is initially steep, but offers various surprises: Hollow paths, ravine traverses and forest paths with the opportunity to take a short breather. You hike past various alpine pastures on the unwooded terrain steps until you reach the ‘Vordere Bärchi’. You can enjoy a marvellous view from the rest area. Now comes the pleasant part: on a forest path into Isenthal and past beautiful farms.

The descent also takes you to a viewing platform, which offers a breathtaking view to the south. Several steep hairpin bends take you to the Urnersee lake in Isleten.
