Melina Affolter, Cello und Ruben Herrmann, Gitarre mit Sylvie Chopard, Violine
Verrucht, Vertanzt, Verführt
For this special program, the Camellia Duo teams up with violinist Sylvie Chopard, becoming a rarely heard combination of instruments. The program combines the “Terzetto” by Niccolò Paganini (who also played the guitar himself and left behind a number of compositions for the guitar), originally composed for this line-up, with works by Dušan Bogdanović and Astor Piazzolla, both of whom have integrated traditional dance music in their compositions. The guitar, which is
at home in many styles as an instrument with an affinity for folk music, serves as inspiration for the arrangements and the particularly colorful interpretations. The “Terzetto” is played by Ruben Herrmann on a romantic guitar (copy by Jan Tuláček after Johann Georg Stauffer). An instrument that was used in Paganini's time.
