It all started with a holiday to Thailand for former director Bruno Odermatt. He fell in love with the light and flavoursome cuisine and was determined to bring it to Obwalden. To find a suitable chef, he travelled to the best and most famous restaurants in Bangkok. When he found what he was looking for, he asked the chef to come to him and asked him if he wanted to come to Switzerland. But he only stayed for a year, the culture shock was too much for him.
Sunan, on the other hand, has been in the restaurant since it opened 24 years ago and has been supported by her sister Pranom for the past 20 years. In the kitchen, "Max" has been creating fresh and colourful dishes for 23 years. "Joe" has been actively assisting him for several years. Original Thai crockery and food from the Thai food importer were also used to ensure that the cuisine was authentic. Even a tuk tuk was transported to Wilen and gave the guests the ultimate Thailand holiday feeling.
