Flat, easy section up to Kehrsiten, then a steep climb to the Bürgenstock. Two completely different parts... both very worthwhile!

Passing the Schnitzturm, you follow the lakeside road, which is in parts blasted into the rock. Shortly after Harissen Bay, you pass the entrance to the former military fortress Fürigen, a 200-meter-long cave system that is now a museum. One kilometer past the quarry, you enter the area of Kehrsiten. The place name refers to cherries (Chirscheten), which thrive here in the mild climate. The climb towards the Bürgenstock begins at the first houses or before the boat station. After the last farms, the forest trail winds up to the resort, ending with the "hanging staircase" behind the hotels.

Worthwhile places to stop along the way: Restaurant AIOLA al Porto in Harissen Bay in Stansstad and Seehotel Baumgartenin Kehrsiten.

Special detail: The two steel wire cables of the suspension bridge behind the Bürgenstock Resort come from the old aerial cableway of the Stanserhornbahn.
