In 1897 Mark Twain, alias Samuel Longhorne Clemens resided in Weggis. He and his family stayed at the Pension Bühlegg. He described Weggis as “the charmingest place we have ever lived in for repose and restfulness”. In his book “Climbing the Rigi” he describes his own journey up to Mt. Rigi which he undertook with a friend, and for which he needed 3 days to complete.
Climb up Mt. Rigi on the old traditional route. Eight signs mark the route between Weggis and Rigi Kulm providing information on the author himself and Mt. Rigi.
