Small town hopping

Discover the small town gem Sarnen

The small town of Sarnen with its picturesque old town, characterised by typical wooden houses and cobbled streets, lies in the middle of an impressive mountain landscape, directly on Lake Sarnen.

The village square forms the centre of the town, which is surrounded by historic buildings such as the town hall, the village chapel, the stone house and the Red House. Just outside Sarnen, in Flüeli-Ranft, lived Niklaus von Flüe, better known as Brother Klaus. According to legend, Brother Klaus extinguished a major fire in Sarnen with his intercession and saved the village from even greater destruction. The Art Nouveau Hotel Paxmontana is another architectural eye-catcher that is the perfect place to pause and reflect.
